On
Friday, February 17, 2006 trusting in all his lucky stars, Loris
Manna inaugurated his new restaurant in Venice,
Il Fontego dei Pescatori. Loris – better known as “Lolo”
– was well-prepared for his opening, having not only over
twenty-seven years experience in the mongering of fish, but also
serving as President of the Rialto Fish Market for over nine years...
where he still has a vendor operation. These elements, combined
with his being a long-time aficionado of both Buona Ristorazione
and of simply eating well, made Lolo’s Il Fontego an idea
whose time had come.
Supporting him in this inspirational quest is daughter Nicole, along
with a passionate staff made up of both experienced masters and
younger emerging pros. Il Fontego also benefits from the invaluable
counsel of Paolo and Laura Lazzari, the brother-and-sister owners
of the renowned Vini da Gigio, and not coincidentally, partners
in The Fontego enterprise. From this unique fusion was born the
special ambience you’ll experience at Il Fontego.
Assures
Lolo: “Our goal
is to create an atmosphere that’s cordial and welcoming; a
place where our guests will feel right at home while enjoying the
very best that we, and Venice, have to offer”.
